Prairie fen surrounded by small wood pockets and agricultural fields. Several vegetaion zones: sedge meadow, wooded, marl. Most previlent species include Cyperaceae, Dasiphora fruticosa, Cornus, Symplocarpus foetidus, and Typha. Some Phalaris arundinacea near woods on north section of fen. Many small creeks zig-zag fen (less than 1m wide). Woody cover includes Larix laricina, Betula pumila, other birches, and Toxicodendron vernix. In northwest section of fen, 15m east of upland woods, 1m west of Typha and Cornus stand, agricultural fields 150m north. Immediate area dominated by Phalaris arundinacea with some Symplocarpus foetidus and Impatiens. Ground wet, covered in last season's grass stalks, uneven but not hummocky.
Flowers - raceme, long glabrous petioles (1-3cm), 4 green sepals, 4 white petals, 1 ovary, 4-6 stamen. Population - in loose groups, in more wet areas, flowering and budding. Found near Impatiens in Phalaris arundinacea.
