In herbaceous vegetation in open part of loblolly pine - post oak woodland on soils mapped as deep, moderately well drained, neutral to slightly acid fine sand (Patilo Series, Grossarenic Paleustalfs), on very gently sloping upland underlain by Eocene sand. Area burned during Bastrop Complex Wildfire of September 2011. Associates included Aphanostephus skirrhobasis, Chamaecrista fasciculata, Gaillardia amblyodon, Monarda punctata, Nama hispidum, Oenothera heterophylla, Paronychia drummondii.
