Precambrian granodiorite to quartz monzonite substrate. Openings in Pinus ponderosa- Pseudotsuga menziesii forest in dry gravelly soil, on gentle NE facing slope. Abundant locally.

Original ID as Lepidium virginicum L. Flowers white. 7.5 Harvard Lakes quad. With common assoc. Chrysothamnus sp., Oreocarya thrysiflora, Picradenia richardsonii, Stipa comata, Carex obtusata, Koeleria macrantha.
