Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. 4m east and north of stream; many Symphyotrichum spp. Dominated herbaceous layer; some Frangula alnus; many snags site south of spring pond; old Lythrum salicaria heads present; close to trail, which contributes to invasives.
