Prairie fen dominated by Carex, Asteraceae, and grasses but encroachment by shrubs (Rubus, Cornus, Betula, Toxicodendron vernix). A few pockets and walls of shrub-carr and wooded fen. Evidence of some management. Hummocky in areas from Carex stricta, other areas dominated by other Carex and Dasiphora fruticosa. 70m from eastern border, 150m north of cedar thicket. Shrubby area (1-2 per m2) dominated by Toxicodendron vernix, Cornus, Populus, Betula pumila. Herbaceous vegetation includes Dasiphora fruticosa, Thelypteris palustris, and Carex. Ground tussocky and wet. Several puddles with standing water near quadrat (pulled water sample from).
Population - White pith, common and widespread, 1-2m tall, 3-5 per 1m2. Associated with Toxicodendron vernix, Betula pumila. Spiny galls present.
