Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. About 1.5m west of stream; Symplocarpus foetidus abundant; large mounds of Carex stricta to the west of quadrat. Lots of Iris virginica in area; large stand of Larix laricina to west with interspersed Typha spp.; very wet ground but not inundated; Frangula alnus starting to colonize area.
