Lakeside prairie fen around Braxee Lake and smaller Little Braxee Lake to the east. Sedge and Dasiphora fruticosa dominant with Salix, Cornus, and Toxicodendron vernix shrubs. Dense stands of Typha with moderately deep water separate fen on north side of Braxee Lake. Heron rookeries (old bog and current rookery) border the north side of fen. Invaded with Typha angustifolia, Phalaris arundinacea, Phragmites australis, and Lythrum salicaria. In eastern portion of prairie fen, east of Little Braxee Lake 150m, 5m west of shrubby encroachment on eastern border, 25m north of southern border. Area dominated by Carex, Lythrum salicaria, and asters with Iris and Thelypteris common. Shrubs and saplings every 1-4m2. Shrub species include Cornus, Toxicodendron vernix, Salix, and Frangula alnus. Ground with small hummocks and puddling in footsteps.
