Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Typha latifolia dominated area in shrub transition zone between Typha stand and woodland upland; shrubs include Toxicodendron vernix, Cornus sericea, Cornus foemina. Other species in area in include Sagittaria latifolia, Impatiens capensis, Eutrochium maculatum, Rosa palustris, Carex lacustris, Lythrum salicaria. Ground wet but not inundated.
