Undulating hills of fine silt; mixed grassland of Aristida divaricata, A. purpurea, Bouteloua eriophylla, and B. gracilis.
Common and often abundant shrub, generally with several spreading main stems, mostly 3-4dm long; fruit yellow, leathery, tuberculate (see Baker 13871); n=11 during meiosis of microgametogenesis from individual transplanted to outside pot, Chino Valley, Arizona.
