Fen curves around east and south portions of the lake. Many "No Trespassing" signs posted. Mostly herbaceous Cyperaceae with shrubs on borders. Actively maintained by The Nature Conservancy. Fay Lake Road borders on east and south side fo fen. 3m south of two-track (raised), 5m to the north of a high voltage power line. Area on this side of 2-track is mostly grasses with some sedges. 10 - 20 m south it transitions to autumn olive, willow, shrub line to tall trees. Some of the last years dead growth (grasses and Carex, one dead shrub).
Flowers - sea green with pink-tinges, erect open, spikelet petiole pink, falls above glumes.
