Recently brush-cleared plot in Prunus serotina-Ulmus americana-Juglans nigra upland hardwoods w/ sparse understory (Fraxinus pennsylvanica, Celtis occidentalis, Acer negundo) & beat-up groundlayer (Cirsium arvense, Glechoma hederacea-very abundant, Agastache spp., Eupatorium rugosum, E. purpureum, Helianthus strumosus, Rubus occidentalis, Verbena urticifolia, also (possibly or undoubtedly deliberately sown) Coreopsis tripteris, Elymus canadensis, E. virginicus, Gaura biennis, & Ratibida pinnata, & Rudbeckia triloba. One of the Friends of Lake View Woods deliberately sowed seeds in this area but left no record of species employed. Surely Rudbeckia subtomentosa was one of these.
