Wet-mesic prairie (turfy but not real dense), with Calamagrostis canadensis, Cicuta maculata, Helianthus grosseserratus, Rudbeckia subtomentosa, Salix petiolaris, and Thalictrum dasycarpum. Deep moist loamy sand in transition zone between (on side of). low swell and swale; full sun. Extensive lowland prairie on huge outwash sand terrace, Wisconsin R. valley. Dry-mesic segments dominated by Andropogon scoparius, Sporobolus heterolepis, & Koelaria macrantha (on low swells) grading to wet segments wet segments dominated by Anropogon gerardii, Panicum virgatum, & Spartina pectinata (in shallow swales).
