Margins of wash with boulders of metamorphic, granitic gneiss, schist substrate, well-drained sand, gravel.; Margin of chaparral, shrubland, in creek wash. Dominants: Eriogonum fasciculatum, Platanus racemosa, Ceanothus spp., Phacelia spp., Lupinus spp., Eriodictyum trichocalyx.; Low, local pale grey-green herb with small lateral ascending branches; soft pubescent, stems tinted maroon; flowers reddish-purple to maroon.
