With Caltha and Castilleja rhexiifolia. All plants of small stature on moraine.
Short, tufted, or indistinctly rhizomatous plants with ~wide leaf blades (~1mm). Inflorescences of tightly contracted panicles. 2 florets per spikelet. Glumes subequal and about as long as the lemmas. Lemmas with geniculate awns from a membranous, bifid lemma apex.
